Posted on March 13, 2008 - Filed Under Health and Fitness

Look younger and feel younger. Start now, by adding weight training to your exercise regimen. It is true, working out with weights will improve your life. Your life will improve physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Let us look at the physical perspective first. Grab some weight with your hands and let’s go. It has been known for a number of years now, that weight bearing exercise will strengthen your bones as you grow in years. Weight training forces the bone to absorb more calcium. This makes it more dense and stronger. The bones become stronger to handle the extra weight being moved around by your body. This can prevent osteoporosis and even help reverse it.

Your muscles are exercised. They will tighten and become toned. Or, if you choose, they can become larger by using heavier weight during training. Either way you will look better. Your heart will be forced to work harder to keep up with the training intensity. This increases the circulation of your blood. Your blood carries all the necessary nutrients to the needed areas of the body. If this does not happen, you will age more rapidly. So, the opposite effect occurs with lifting weights. Stay younger, longer.

You will be forced to breathe harder during weight training. This will increase the efficiency of your lungs. Many functions and areas of your body will be positively influenced with the increased circulation and respiration. Your brain will receive more oxygen and nutrients from your bloodstream. this will increase awareness. Your focus will improve. The brain controls the entire nervous system, which will function better. This effects every function of the body. You may feel tired or even exhausted after a good workout. But, with quality rest, you will find yourself more energetic. Due to increased circulation, your libido can improve. This applies to male or female. Even your skin can improve in texture and suppleness.

Now, let us look at the psychological perspective of weight training. You are starting to look better in your clothes and out of them. This makes you feel better about yourself. This increases your self esteem on a physical level. But, as any psychologist would tell you, self esteem on the physical level will spill over to your personality. You will be a stronger person emotionally. After all, you were able to change the physical you. You have better focus on life. You can accomplish more. Your outlook will be more positive in situations that come up. And, you have more energy to accomplish the goals that you seek. Overall, you will have a better outlook on you and life.

This started with pushing a few pounds of iron around. Those few pounds kick starts a much better lifestyle for you and everyone you touch in life.
